Cat prefers gravy style to pate style wet food, but still ate it. Unfortunately the price is a bit too high to buy again

My cat has a sensitive stomach so couldn’t give it to him to try. Gave it to my sister’s cat, who ate it, but the cat exploded everywhere upon opening (not sure why). It seems expensive but the sensitive food we have to buy costs more.
