I’ll be honest here……I was skeptical! I have seen the precooked/prepacked rice in the past & questioned it’s freshness and flavour. This handy pouch did all the talking & convinced me of its versatility, flavour and convenience.
I was very pleasantly surprised when I served up the Tilda Long Grain Rice with one of our staple meals – Sweet and Sour Chicken. I am usually a Basmati consumer regardless of the cultural cuisine, so I was apprehensive when using the long grain rice but actually found the long grain to be more enjoyable than Basmati with this dish.
The convenience of the ready to eat pouch was ideal, although it is basically only a ‘serves 2’, so for our family of 5, a meal using the Tilda Long Grain Rice pouch would prove expensive and tedious, but in times of desperation – those nights we are rushing in and out of the house, this would prove to be a huge asset in ensuring our family is eating a healthy meal as opposed to the unhealthy local drive through takeaway alternative!

Nice soft texture. Grains separate and don’t turn into mush when added to stir fry. Good portion size for one person.

It was easy to prepare and tasted fine. Not enough to feed our family though, we needed to cook more. We generally buy in bulk and use our rice cooker. If I just needed something quick or a single serve, i’d use this pack.
